If you find bacon hard to resist and love the combination of sweet and savory together, you HAVE to try making candied bacon. It’s so addictive, you almost wish it wasn’t so unbelievably easy to make.
INGREDIENTS
All you need is your favorite cut of bacon, maple syrup, brown sugar, and crushed black pepper. That’s it.
HOW TO MAKE CANDIED BACON
STEP 1: Place a wire rack on a lined baking sheet. Lining the baking sheet with foil makes clean up so easy! Place bacon strips on the wire rack.
STEP 2: Combine maple syrup, brown sugar, and black pepper in a small bowl.
STEP 3: Brush each slice of bacon with the sugar-syrup mixture. This step feels so naughty and wrong, but the end result tastes so right.
STEP 4: Bake for 30-40 minutes, or until crispy. Your cook time will depend on the thickness of the bacon and also how crispy you like your bacon. When the bacon is fully cooked, remove from the oven and let cool on wire rack for 10 minutes. I know the bacon will try to seduce you, but give it the resting time it needs to fully caramelize. The wait will be so worth it!
STEP 5: Once the bacon has cooled, transfer to a plate and serve.
Candied bacon truly elevates your breakfast and pairs well alongside pancakes, waffles or eggs. I also like to add candied bacon to roasted brussel sprouts or baked potatoes. No matter how you decide to eat it, there’s never any left over.
